A problem of finding an optimal layer thickness of thermal insulation in the multi-layer cylindrical block is solved. The thickness provides the temperature value of the block boundary internal surface that does not exceed the specified ultimate value. A procedure of calculation of non-stationary temperature field in the multi-layer cylindrical block is offered in which the temperature dependence of thermal physical properties of the layers material is taken into account.
