Relations for the similarity phase of deviators and difference of Lode parameters are analyzed. The interconnection of these magnitudes and possibility of its representation as a ratio of mixed invariants, having a dimension of work of stresses on strains, are shown, which gives them a new interpretation. A technique to determine these magnitudes and nonlinear shear characteristics is proposed. Their dependence on the stress state for various structural materials is investigated.
