The change in energy of spherical nanoparticles of metals is considered in comparison with the volume sample. The calculations use a method of the electron content functional within the framework of models of the homogeneous ion background and non-structured pseudopotential. The approximated relation is obtained for estimation of its component, connected to the electron gas relaxation near the surface, in a wide range of sizes of the particles. The presented data testify to the noticeable increase of the electron contribution with a radius of particles less than 10 nm as compared to the metal bulk.
