A structure of a real photon 3D-crystal based on the opal matrix is studied during optical tests. It is shown that the test samples were polycrystals and had a complex columnlike structure. Column cross-sections had a form of pentagon or hexagon with an internal stripe structure. All sizes of obtained structure elements of photon crystals under study are determined.
