Mechanisms of a reaction of nuclear fusion of the deuterium and tritium nuclei are investigated. The intermediate reaction mechanism (between the direct nuclear interaction and the compound nucleus formation) is offered. The formed compound nucleus 52He (not virtual, though formally not existing) breaks up quickly (approximately for the time characteristic of a strong interaction), with the reaction time being typical for direct nuclear interactions. The sequence of events, the mechanism, and energy dependence of cross section are peculiar to the nuclear reaction going through the formation of a compound nucleus.
