Statistical Study of Filtering Small-Concentration Suspension Using Granular Filter Medium

The filtering process is presented as a Marcovian process of particles birth and death. The appropriate thickness of the granular medium layer is found from the probabilistic prerequisites. The grain-size distribution at the filter output in relation to the suspension and filter medium properties is determined for the stationary case.
