A problem regarding forced edge vibrations in pre-stressed incompressible elastic solids subject to mixed face boundary conditions is studied. The vibrations are investigated in respect of a semi-infinite strip and a rectangular rod. These two cases are compared, and it is revealed that the total removal of the resonant phenomena which occurs in the 2D case is not possible in the 3D formulation.
